Couple finds hidden camera at Ann Arbor hot tub spa

ANN ARBOR, MI — Police are investigating a report of a hidden camera in an Ann Arbor hot tub spa.

Ann Arbor police are currently investigating a report from a Dearborn Heights couple who said they found a hidden camera inside one of the private hot tub rooms at Oasis Hot Tub Gardens, 2301 S. State St. in Ann Arbor.

The couple said they found the camera inside a wooden statue facing the hot tub.

Oasis offers both indoor and outdoor hot tub gardens and has locations in Ann Arbor, Grand Rapids and Kalamazoo.

“We were devastated to learn of this potential breach of customer privacy,” a spokesperson for the company wrote in a statement.

An initial inspection of the device suggested it had been broken off from another electronics and was not capable of storing video or transmitting signals, the spokesperson added. No other electronic components were found on the premises.

The staff has inspected every garden, the spokesperson wrote. Oasis has also contracted with an outside security company to carry out a sweep of all hot tub gardens across its three locations..

“The Oasis is fully committed to the resolution of this issue and restoring our patrons’ sense of security by seeking a thorough and expeditious examination both internally at the Oasis and externally with law enforcement officials.”
