TWO Limerick natives have been selected to exhibit at a prestigious art institution in London.
Joe Duggan and Stephen Murphy will join the Royal Academy Summer Exhibition for the world’s ‘most joyful art experience.’
Joe Duggan’s artistic practice includes sculpture, painting, photography, video, publishing and installation.
His work ‘Better Better’, will be on display this summer alongside works from artists Caroline Walker and Ryan Gander.
The meticulously created artwork embodies layers of paint, representing its evolution over an extended period of time. According to the artist, the word ‘better’ then becomes a symbol of progress and desire, for yearning, for advancement.
Stephen Murphy will be exhibiting his piece ‘Newborn (the hardest day of your short life yet).
Sharing the news on his Instagram, Stephen commented: “I’m delighted to have my work included, many thanks to the selection committee.
“Also very well done to the curators and technical crew for the monumental installation effort! I’m especially grateful to be exhibiting at such a momentous occasion, this being the 200th anniversary of the RHA.”
