EVERYBODY’S TALKING ABOUT JAMIE

Weymouth Pavilion

THIS show vividly demonstrated a new direction for WOW and the audience gave it their enthusiastic approval for the hard work and imagination as it took the theater by storm on the opening night of this latest production.

Full of music, dancing and drama, this is a challenging story about a teenage boy who likes dressing up as a girl but discovers that not everyone agrees that this is a good idea. Jamie’s family and friends have mixed feelings about his move towards wearing drag and conflicts arise which are sometimes painful and revealing.

Growing up is never easy for anybody and this riveting tale of parental strife, friendship, loyalty and love is brought to life by the great cast of young people whose energy and dedication is an example of just how much WOW has been given to the local community over the years.

A six piece band under the direction of Nikki Budd brings life to the show and the many scene changes are handled with skill throughout the performance.

In the leading role of 16-year-old Jamie is Fin Tozer who is inspirational as the troubled teenager alongside Mersey Moore as Jamie’s mother, beautifully portrayed and superbly sensitive.

With a cast of more than 25 young people, it is impossible to name them but their dance routines are devised by Martine Burt, just say it all – lively, energetic and full of enthusiasm.

The production continues until Saturday, April 8 with matinees as well as evening performances throughout the week.
