The Candy Man, by UK photographer Jon Enoch, has won the overall prize at the Pink Lady Food Photographer of the Year competition this year.

Sony World Photography Award 2023 winner turns down top prize after admitting his image was created with AI | Science & Tech News

The winner of a major photography award has turned down the prize after admitting the image he submitted was created by artificial intelligence.

German artist Boris Eldagsen’s entry, entitled Pseudomnesia: The Electrician, was awarded a Sony World Photography Award last week in the creative open category.

In a statement on his website, the artist said he applied to the competition as a “cheeky monkey, to find out, if the competition is prepared for AI images to enter”.

With a new grant, two photographers have gotten a boost to their work as they spotlight activists and share environmental issues through a lens of resilience.

Vital Impacts, a conservation storytelling nonprofit, announced the winners of its Environmental Photography Grants in May. For the program’s inaugural year, 372 submissions from 68 countries vied for the winning spots.

Peruvian Mexican photographer Musuk Nolte and Tailyr Irvine, a Salish and Kootenai photojournalist based in Montana, were granted $20,000 each to embark on in-depth projects documenting environmental issues and solutions in their local communities.
